On February 1st, 2023 at 9 am and 7 pm CET we organised the Open NPSIG Meeting on a Zoom platform where we presented who we are, what projects we have and what we plan to do.
As we all know, there is an election time in IFLA and everybody can apply to IFLA councils, divisions, sections, and groups. And also to the IFLA New Professionals Special Interest Group because we have 3 free seats in our standing committee!
Before you decide to join us, let us tell you more about what we are doing in NPSIG.
IFLA New Professionals SIG is a place for LIS new professionals who want to learn more about international cooperation, learn new skills and try to organise free events for librarians from around the world. Our group was created in 2004 by enthusiasts and it still attracts active librarians. When you plan your adventure with IFLA, New Professionals SIG is a good place to start.
We meet regularly on a Zoom platform and share our tasks. We work on organising webinars with IFLA sections and write articles as well as interviews. During IFLA WLIC we have a session, meetings, flashmob and the IFLAcamp. If you ever heard about fashion in librarians, an international music contest for librarians, librarians’ olympics in Greece or reading James Joyce’s “Ulysses” on the Library Square near Trinity College in Dublin, that’s our ideas!
