WLIC 2010 Satellite Meeting

Management of Library Associations Section

Conference Location and Dates

The conference will be hosted by the Swedish School of Library and Information Science in Borås, Sweden, on 9 August 2010. The satellite meeting will start at 8:30 a.m. with registration, and will end at 4:30 p.m. with a networking session.

Conference Themes and Focus

New librarians are positioning themselves as library leaders in academia, libraries, and professional associations. This event aims to address key themes and leading trends to provide library services while changing attitudes and expectations on the way. The conference organising committee wishes to showcase examples of best practice in how to develop new leaders, services, and inclusion of new professionals in decision-making processes through both research based scholarly presentations and experiential and practical stories of successes and lessons learned. We welcome and encourage proposals from first-time conference presenters, librarians, library school students, and information workers new to the profession.

As a joint conference between two established IFLA groups there will be plenty of opportunity to network with new professionals and more established librarians from around the world, and a chance to learn from each other.

Deadlines/Timeline

  • Proposals for papers must be submitted by February 20, 2010.
  • Successful proposers will be advised of the acceptance of their proposal by late February 2010.
  • If the presentation is accepted, then the full paper must be submitted for review by May 15, 2010

Registration

The deadline for registration was extended to July 29. Please use the registration form (pdf , doc) an send it to sharonu@iinet.net.au. The registration fee for the satellite meeting is 50 €, including morning coffee/tea, lunch, afternoon coffee/tea and conference closing refreshments.
