Magnificent librarians! We hope that you are anxious to hear more about the upcoming IFLAcamp #5 in Wroclaw. So are we! 🙂
While we are preparing a new set of information for IFLAcamp at the Lower Silesian Library, Cycling for Libraries, Sunday Happy hour and one more surprise (at least!), we wanted to remind you to register for the IFLAcamp if you haven’t done it yet.
Registration is open until June 30th, hurry up and book your seat, or we’ll have to play Musical chairs!
So, is it a real camp with tents, camp fire, hammock and singing? It is even better!
The Public Library of Lower-Silesia, in the very center of Wrocław!
NPSIG is proud to announce that the 5th edition of IFLAcamp will take place on August 17th and 18th at the Dolnośląska Biblioteka Publiczna im. Tadeusza Mikulskiego, the Regional public library, on Wrocław’s main square, the famous Rynek.
IFLAcamp is a two-day satellite meeting in the mode of an unconference that provides plenty of space for ad-hoc sessions and group discussions. The participant-driven approach allows for active involvement of all attendees and including all kinds of topics of interest.
Your NPSIG crew is excited to announce that we’re leading a virtual workshop at this year’s BOBCATSSS 2014 conference! BOBCATSSS, the annual symposium organized by and for library and information science students, will be taking place in Barcelona, Spain from January 29th- 31st. In the spirit of this year’s conference theme “Library (R)evolution: Promoting Sustainable Information Practices”, we will lead a 60 minute virtual workshop on library advocacy. This workshop will 1) introduce those in the library and information science fields to the concept of advocacy; 2) explain why advocacy is so important to the future of our profession; and 3) provide tips for being a better advocate for libraries in various contexts. At the end of the workshop, participants will be prepared to have conversations that promote our field and profession. Our workshop is an opportunity for both conference attendees onsite in Barcelona (lucky!) and those unable to make it to BOBCATSSS this year to participate in building a better future for our profession. See below for important details and links.
