From January 25 to 27, BOBCATSSS 2010 will take place in Parma, Italy. The New Professionals SIG will actively participate in the symposium by offering a workshop as well as a presentation. Our workshop on Day 1 is entitled “Bridging the gap – Involving new professionals in the international development of our profession in the digital world” and will be hosted together with current IFLA President Ellen Tise. After an introduction to IFLA and to the NPSIG we are going to ask the participants to brainstorm on three topics:
- Support of New Professionals on a national level
- Recruitment of New Professionals on an international level
- Web-based component to get New Professionals more involved in the IFLA community
The findings of the brainstorming and the following discussion will provide a basis for re-defining the mission and objectives of the NPSIG. We also hope to improve the work of our Special Interest Group. During a panel on education in the 21st century on Day 2 we will get another chance to present background and scope of the NPSIG and to discuss the workshop findings with the audience.
See you in Parma!
