IFLA Presidential Meeting – special offers for students!

On 14 and 15 April 2011, IFLA and FOBID are hosting a two-day conference at the National Library of the Netherlands in The Hague. This year’s Presidential Meeting is entitled “Libraries Driving Access to Knowledge – Action for Europe”.

The programme will focus on three major topics for the European and international library community: Copyright, Open Access, and Human Rights. The purpose of the conference is to propose new solutions to the challenges facing libraries and to enhance the visibility of the library community in Europe.

'Meet and Greet' with Ellen Tise

We are very happy to see some special offerings for LIS students:

  • In the end of the conference, LIS students will have the chance to join a one-hour ‘Meet and Greet’ with IFLA President Ellen Tise to talk about the main conference themes.
  • The conference fee for students is only 30 Euro (instead of 150 Euro).

If you are a LIS student, definitely consider attending this conference! Besides the really nice programme and the student benefits mentioned above, it is a great opportunity for you to easily get in touch with the IFLA network, meet a very prominent and international crowd of people and be at the very heart of IFLA. ;) Hurry up, if you haven’t registered yet – there are still seats left!

See you in The Hague!

Review of proposals for IFLA 2011

After receiving the huge number of 45 [update] 46 [update] proposals for the NPSIG session in Puerto Rico the review process just started. We are very glad that so many people get actively involved in this years topic “New Professionals beyond New Professionals – skills, needs and strategies of a new generation of LIS professionals”. They are coming from all over the world, most of them from the US.
